Abstract

As the social implementation of AI advances, a key challenge for both companies and public organizations—domestically and globally—is how to ensure transparency and build trustworthy AI governance. In recent years, an increasing number of organizations have begun to publish “transparency reports” describing their approaches to AI development and use.

This event offers a practical opportunity to learn about the significance and methodology of preparing such transparency reports. Using the draft handbook “Transparency Report Handbook for AI Governance”—developed under the supervision of the Ema Laboratory at the University of Tokyo—participants will explore how to organize internal information, prepare reports, facilitate organizational consensus, and conduct effective governance meetings.

The program will also feature a case study of the Hiroshima AI Process (HAIP), an international initiative launched following the G7 Hiroshima Summit, to understand how different countries and companies voluntarily disclose their AI-related practices to foster international trust.
Unlike legally binding regulations, HAIP promotes governance maturity through voluntary transparency reporting, aligning closely with the direction of Japan’s emerging AI legal framework.

We will also provide time for participants to exchange information and share practical challenges and solutions related to AI governance. This session aims to foster discussion on how organizations can both embed AI governance within their internal operations and build international trust. We welcome participation from organizations and companies interested in advancing responsible AI governance.
