社会言語学的観点から言語とアイデンティティの関係を研究している。特に、多言語主義、言語教育、言語の民主化、マイノリティの言語継承などを通して、言語接触の状況下で言語の多様性をどのように維持できるかに関心がある。オックスフォード大学にて執筆した博士論文では外来語の使用をめぐる議論と言語アイデンティティに焦点を当てた。現在は、科研費の助成を受け、クリアランゲージイニシアチブの役割を検証するプロジェクトに取り組んでいる。
