ヨハネスブルグビジネススクール高等教育学教授。これまで南アフリカ大学最高経営責任者を務める。理論物理学に関心を持ち続けながら、現在は、知識の世界で起きているさまざまな変化を視野に入れ、知識を集約した社会的機関としての大学の進化を理解することを試みている。これは、科学と社会の広範で複雑な関係性への関心と直結している。南アフリカでは、知識システムの脱植民地化と関連した現在進行中の課題を扱い、大学におけるローカルな足跡と知識アジェンダやプロジェクトに及ぼすそれらの影響に取り組んでいる。
