自然言語処理に焦点をあて、人工知能（AI）の歴史と現代の実践について研究を行っている。AIのアイデアや制度がより広い社会的傾向と計算の具体的な物質性の両方に対応してどのように形成されてきたかを研究している。さらに、このような歴史的資料に基づいた新しい計算技術を設計している。現在は、人工知能における言語と知能の絡み合いの歴史をたどる本の原稿を執筆中である。東京カレッジでは、1980年代の日本とアメリカにおける知性と計算の概念の対立が両国の人工知能の発展にどのような影響を与えたかを調査している。
