ICT Systems and Security

This page provides information on information security and common IT-related matters. The University of Tokyo also has a convenient website called utelecon (https://utelecon.adm.u-tokyo.ac.jp/) that contains information about the various IT tools available to the university as a whole, so please feel free to make use of that resource as well.

1. UTokyo account

・ This is the university-wide account required to use the University of Tokyo's information systems.
・Please remember to enable multifactor authentication.
・A brief training course called “Information Security Education” is required once per year. If you do not take this course, you will be unable to access some of the university’s systems, so please be sure to take it when prompted.

2. ICT systems at UTokyo

・UTokyo Wifi
UTokyo Wi-Fi is a wireless internet service available for educational and research purposes to members of the University of Tokyo who have a UTokyo Account. It is currently available in most buildings on campus.

・Zoom
By signing into Zoom using your University of Tokyo account, you can hold meetings with up to 300 participants for up to 30 hours.

・ECCS Cloud Email
ECCS Cloud Email is a service that allows you to use your University of Tokyo account to use Google services such as Gmail and Google Drive.

Note: We recommend using your ECCS Cloud Email address as your primary address. This is because after leaving Tokyo College, you can enable email forwarding for a 180-day period.

3. IT security

UTokyo has established the guidelines for information ethics and computer use . Please review them carefully.

4. Registration of terminal information connected to the TC network

・ In order to allow us to more easily identify a cause in the event of an IT-related incident, new employees are required to register their computers using the equipment registration form.
・ Even if you have already completed the form, please complete the form again if you purchase a new computer or other device.
