東アジアの国際関係史研究者であり、今日の国際的安定にとって重要な意味を持つ経験や枠組みに焦点を当てている。現在の研究では、特定の政治的利益集団がいつ、なぜ海外からの影響力を受け入れるようになったのかを説明するために、歴史的な影響力工作を探求している。
私の著書は、個人的ネットワーク、国境を越えたロビー活動、グローバル政治の相互作用を中心に展開している。UCDアジア太平洋研究センターのディレクターとして、人文科学、社会科学、そしてそれ以外の分野においても、日本を拠点に東アジアの研究に取り組んでいる仲間との協力関係を深めることに力を注いでいる。
